About The FilmmakerSam Chen started his misguided young-adult life by studying computer science at UCLA. His disillusionment continued when he relocated to Silicon Valley to become a filthy rich computer geek. But one day while he was replacing memory chips in his PC, he was zapped by some loose wires into a state of momentary epiphany. Since then, he has had 3 successful lobotomies to reverse the extensive damage from years of technical lectures.
He has since traded in his HP scientific calculator for a beret and fake mustache in order to more effectively pursue his passion for filmmaking, art, music, photography, and animation. Now he is widely regarded as a bona fide poor and starving artist, and will gladly work for food.
During his newfound state of artistic bliss, he has produced several films from his worldwind travels around the globe, including two feature-length documentaries about the Amazon Rainforest and the Inca Ruin of Machu Picchu.
His last film, Cat Ciao, is an award-winning animation about a hyperactive kitten with an insatiable appetite that gets him into big trouble.
Sam hopes to continue making independent films in both animation and live-action where the emphasis will be innovative visual storytelling.
